Yes, this book is now a movie, but our house-hold read it years ago and fell in love with the series. When my daughter read it, she fell in love with Greek Mythology, and taught herself the Greek alphabet. She and her best friend in school now write notes to each other using the Greek alphabet, and no one else can read them. I really need to learn the Greek letters so that when I do my mommy snooping I will be able to read the secret notes. Sorry hon, but mommies snoop. It’s a fact. We have to keep our kids safe.
Percy Jackson is a young boy who finds out that he is a demi-god; a half-blood. Half Greek god and half human.
The book is set in current times and the Greek gods are real, but they have adapted to modern society a bit. There is a ruckus about Zeus’ master lightning bolt being stolen and Percy and two of his friends have to go on a mission to get it back before the gods go to war.
The book is action packed with humor around every corner. It is great for all ages. My daughter at 12 has read it so many times that she practically has it memorized, and my 8 year old son has read it too. It took him a bit longer to get through it, but he really enjoyed it.
As with most books, it has much more in it than the movie does.
LOVE the book. Of course, the rest of the series is great too.
