Well, summer is over.  I was off work all summer, and really luxuriated in the laziness of it.  I took a photography class, and posted some of the pictures on the photography section on  day 1 of class, day 2, more from day 2, my favorites from day 3, and then some extra pictures from class.  The cool thing about taking the class was that our time was devoted and carved out specifically for taking pictures and editing them.  We spent all day every day photographing and editing pictures.  You have to spend the time in order to get better.  Another great thing about the class was its location.  We were in Northern California on the coast near Mendocino at the Albion Field Station, which is owned by Pacific Union College.  The coastline is wild there, and we were camping in a little valley on a river/estuary,  so there was wildlife galore.  There were deer passing through camp daily, osprey overhead, owls next to our camp each night.  It was awesome.  We were very tired by the end of the week because we started photographing a 6:30 every morning, and we weren’t done until 9 each night.  Long days, but pleasant.  It was cold there too.  We were there mid July, and I don’t think that it got above the 60s every day.  I never took my sweatshirt off.  Here is a picture of our camp.

Here is a sample of some of my cards.

We went to the tide pools today in Laguna Beach.  It was beautiful.  We had just started looking at things when I saw this little guy in the water.

He is a little sea lion pup. He started to come up on the rocks, so we just sat down and watched him and took pictures.
029
He was washed around on the rocks a bit by the waves.
030
He slowly worked his way higher and higher on the rocks.

He eventually got to a comfortable spot and lay down to take a nap.  He was shivering and exhausted.  We hung out for a long time to make sure that nobody bothered him.
090 He slowly dried off.
094He was so close to us.  It was a really precious moment.
101I hope that my new son Fred finds his biological mother today.  I am very worried about him and feel a special bond to him.  I felt bad when I had to abandon my new son there on the rocks, but I know that it is the best place for him.  I hope that me guarding him while he slept and got his energy back will make it easier for him to find his mother when he is ready to go back into the water.  Be strong young Fred, and stay away from sharks.

We went out driving to find wild flowers as it is spring now, and that is a lovely thing to do in the spring.  We were hoping for huge fields of wild California Poppies, but we found some small amounts of Poppies.

We then ran into this other little fellow.

And my dad tried to keep him from escaping.
Here is a close up of the little fellow.  He is a Gopher snake.  Non poisonous.  Kind of a cute little guy.  We did not bring him home to keep him as a pet.  Once we got our pictures, he was free to go about his business.
I decided to make it my mission on Thursday to take pictures of things that are beautiful and that make me happy.  It was weird carrying my camera around to the different schools, but I have some pretty things.  The first one is not one that I saw that day, but it was a really nice rainbow after a storm.
Next I have some lovely flowers that are blooming, and they made me happy to see the beauty.
The beauty in everyday things part is that some of those flowers were at a school that I go to, and some of them were in a parking lot at Costco where I got gas.
I also really love books and reading, and the school I was at that day was having a scholastic book fair and it was all I could do not to buy a book.  I love books.

This is our dog woody.  I like this look, and may do a bunch of family members as gifts.

This is one of me.

Here is some photoshop art that I have been working on. I’ll probably hang them in my house somewhere.

My husband is supposed to report to San Diego today for his pre-deployment stuff. We heard a rumor though that all Navy orders to Afghanistan have been cancelled. They checked my husbands orders, and the official word is that they don’t know. He will go down there today and find out if they have been cancelled or modified (he will go somewhere else), or if he is still going to Afghanistan. We hope they have been modified, and that he will have the long weekend off. We have a yearly ritual with my husband’s family of going to Yosemite on Memorial day weekend. We were all going to go without him. It would be GREAT if he could come too.

I have said all along that When my husband gets deployed, I will be getting a new camera. Well, since I worked a lot last month, and my paycheck is bigger than usual, I got myself a new camera yesterday. I wanted to play with it in Yosemite. I got the new Canon EOS T1i. I can hardly wait to learn it all. I also found this cool product called a bamboo tablet. You use it with photoshop to edit pictures, but you use the pen on the tablet instead of the mouse. You can paint and draw in photoshop with it. It looks really cool, and I am going to try it out. Here is the Amazon link.

I have a whole bunch of projects in the works, and my schedule has gotten lighter, so I might actually have a chance to finish them soon. Then I can post them. It is best to have the before and after pics, not just the before pics, which is all I have right now. On another note, I have decided to jump on the bandwagon and open an etsy store. I have some photographs in there right now, but I have plans for some other stuff too. I have to get them done first though. the store is http://www.tmcadapt.etsy.com/.

I am going to print these pictures and group them together. I think that they turned out pretty good.

My husband and I went to the beach this weekend, and checked out the tidepools at Laguna. Here is a sea anemone.

This picture is just some succulent flowers that had a bunch of bees on them. I think that I caught the bee well.
